3rd to 4th December 2014 in Munich

The OPEN ACCESS AMBASSADORS training is conceived as a two-day workshop in Munich from 3rd to 4th December 2014 in Munich at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry. Every Max Planck Institute is invited to delegate one young researcher to attend the workshop and become an OPEN ACCESS AMBASSADOR.

The program will comprise topics like scientific publishing and publication market, copyright, scholarly reputation mechanisms, concepts of Open Access and Open Science, including presentations from leading voices of the Open Access movement, discussions with publishers, policymakers, researchers or advocates, train-the-trainer workshops and training materials specifically tailored to the position of PhD students and early stage researchers. It is planned to include presentations and discussions as well as interactive parts where students could exchange their ideas on how to disseminate Open Science at their institutes and establish the OPEN ACCESS AMBASSADORS network. The program will be rounded out by a social event.

After the workshop, each AMBASSADOR takes the “spirit of Open Access” home and will then be a contact partner for Open Access at their institute. They act as a multiplier notably for PhD students and early-career researchers . The OPEN ACCESS AMBASSADORS are encouraged to organize further activities locally about Open Access principles tailored to the particular needs of their institute. They can furthermore directly support young scientists and help them to integrate Open Access practices in their daily workflow.
